Hi All,
I am in the process of purchasing a noise limiter for my 160/80 M operation.
I live in a high noise environment (s8 or higher) in the middle of a city on
a smallish lot. My 160 antenna is a KI6O designed Linear Loaded sloper and I
have a receive loop for 160/80. Unfortunately, I am surrounded by power
lines.
Another local ham has an MFJ-1025 Noise Limiter and finds that it works
well. He is not too far from me and has similar noise issues, though not as
great. In reviewing this device, I found that Timewave also makes one, the
ANC-4 Noise Cancelling Device. The difference in cost is about $50USD, which
is really neither here nor there in the overall scheme of things. I have
read the reviews of both on eHam.
Anyway, my questions to the group are:
Has anyone had the chance to test/try both of these devices and, if so,
which did you prefer?
Are there any other devices available that may be more appropriate for my
situation?
My only real concern would be picking a device that doesn't work or shows
minimal improvement for my location and being out $250. It would be great to
be able to try both or several and buy the better one.
Please reply to me directly to minimize the impact on the group. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks and 73,
