What happens if the elavated radials have a ground connection at the far
end, prefereably slopng to earth?

I know this is against conventional "Marconi" wisdom but even going so far
as running a few "in between" ground down leads may mitigate some of the
unwanted horizontal radiation from the elevated radials. Of course you may
also get undesirable vertical radiation from the various earthing downleads
but without a model to prove it I would quess a many ground connections
might be better than no ground connection since the tower is already making
part of the earthing process as the UK hams would say.
