Faris, The fastest and least labor intensive means of installing radials is
by using a vibrating plow blade attachment. They are available from
equipment rental companies or on loan from the local cable company. The
make a nearly invisible insision in the lawn as compared to the scaring of a
tiller.

The vibrating plow attachment, like the kind used on small ditch witches, is
available for a small walk behind machinery. The wire to be installed is
mounted on a spindle above the blade and passes inside a hollow space inside
the blade and out a small hole at the bottom of the blade. A small hole is
dug near the tower and the blade is inserted. As the device moves forward
the wire is pulled from the roll on the spindle and planted in the ground.
If the vibrating blade hits and obstruction such as a large rock or septic
lines, because of its angle declivity, normally kicks out of the ground with
out destroying anything. The other methods, chains saws and edgers, could
turn out to be very costly or even catastrophic depending upon what is hit.
