Bill,
Barry, W9UCW used an electric fence wire in the middle of several barbed
wire strands quite successfully. This is descrebed in QST for June, 1977 in
an article starting on page 35.
Good reading for all sorts of top band receiving antennas.
Good luck and let us know how you make out. I have a couple of long fences
myself!!
