For clarity, when I said "35 years of getting it wrong", here's what I
meant:
I was focusing on optimizing the maximum radiated signal towards a favored
direction.
That was wrong.
In that particular case it resulted in having a null in a direction of a far
away, but common multiplier (UA9).
Instead, I should have been doing as Jim said, and focusing on the NULLS.
Consider: "where do I want my nulls NOT to be" and make sure they are not
in that direction.
Lesson learned.
And actually it was closer to "50 years" of doing it wrong before I learned.
In fact I never even considered that point until this thread where Jim
mentioned it.
