I agree. Twice I sent a 60 pound amp to Tentec and NP. The Orion 1 has also
had a few vistis, again by the USPS, without incidents.
Regardless of what you ship, use the factory boxes & packing. I guess one
could cobble up a shipping container with spray foam, a "close fit box" and
yards of tape.
Mike makes a strong arguement for claims. Although I have not been involved
with a USPS claim, UPS is a cluster.

I agree with Carl, the USPO is reliable, even with heavy amplifiers,
provided the appropriate packaging and "FRAGILE" or "GLASS" labels are
applied, including, "THIS SIDE UP".
They help with hand carts for the heavy stuff too.
One other piece of info. In case breakage or damage, the Post Master for
the location handles the entire claim and did not have to have anyone else
involved. He asked for proof of pricing to justify the claim amount, and
he decided the legitimacy of the insurance claim.
I do QSK conversions and ship some heavy amps. It has been the best way
for me.

Where I live now the only shipper that is practical for me is USPS. I've
shipped about 20 packages over the past year that way with no problem at
all.
Over the years I have seen problems with both Fedex and UPS. I don't
think it matters which one you use. They are both now almost exactly the
same price. When you ship anything you are at the mercy of the shipper.
One difference I will point out between UPS and Fedex is that UPS hires
their own drivers. All Fedex home delivery drivers are contracted.
And so far I like USPS. They are the fastest when shipping cross country
and using ground services. And they are also the same price as Fedex and
UPS.

I may have been too stingy in targeting blame: FedEx has, from time to

to destroy solid steel ingots regardless of packaging.
So far, the USPS has been unable to match either UPS or FedEx in their
singularly destructive potential, but I haven't shipped anything
particularly heavy with USPS, yet.

Another vote against using "The Ooops Store" (UPS Store) and Ooops

Another member of the list and I have been trying for weeks to collect
damages for packing and shipping another fine piece of TenTec gear
that was
mangled upon delivery. I think N5OP's tongue & cheek comment about them
breaking anvils may be true!

Yep, I'd say this is nice package deal with radio, PS and filters.
I view it smart to ship via Fed-X. I had my Eagle recently damaged by
UPS
during transit. It was double bubble wrapped and double boxed with foam
between the two boxes. Still took a hit that broke the AF Gain and RF
Gain
control.
