Am I correct in assuming that you omitted the update from 2.039D to
2.043B and went directly from 2.039D to 2.044A?
Someone I know had done that and had similar problems. On my advice he
went through the whole uddate sequence (2.039D -> 2.043B -> 2.044A) and
all has been well since that.
