Hi Phil,
Received several responses. I just put in my old set of 3-500 tubes &
have the same symptoms 200 Ma plate current in both the stnby/operate
position.
Only live 40 miles from TT, will take it over the first of the week.

You almost certainly have a grid to cathode short in one of the tubes.
Remove them one at a time and see what happens.
