That was my reaction too, so I replaced the too long, too thin cable with a shorter run of #12. It didn't make any difference, but I just wanted to make sure I didn't have problems down the road.

I had thought intuitively that the wire supplied by TT and the connector on
the radio was "wimpy."  The wire on my FT-100d is a lot heavier and the
connector a lot more substantial.

I have had to go into the power jack and spread the prongs apart to  get a
better connection when my screen started to flicker. I noticed the connector
looked blackened.

I wish they had spent an extra 50 cents and used a heavier connector and
wire.  Anyone else care to comment?
