Alan,
Unfortunately it is 'typical' for the Orion to do that. It is something that
Ten Tec has been trying to solve in firmware since before last September. It
is also one of the items listed for firmware update v1.37. However, to be
specific, it normally will randomly stop transmitting IF you have the sweep
turned on and your running the CW mode, with split VFO's. With the sweep
turned off, I've never had it stop xmiting when in split VFO operation on
CW. If you just operate with both tx and rx on the same VFO, to my
knowledge, it does not lock up.
