Some wire strippers have a built-in wire gauge.
I'm looking at the
General No. 89 Wire Stripper and Cutter
that I carry in my shirt pocket
(to the distress of the xyl).
I've seen others.
You just have to be careful not to squeeze
too hard and nick the wire.
Takes care of measuring, cutting and stripping
with one tool.
An AWG.exe gauge#/diameter/resistance calculator
is included in the miscellaneous files
with my freeware GCGC distance/bearing, etc. program*.
George VE3ERP Murphy also has one in
his freeware HAMCALC package of going-on-300
ham radio programs available for download at CQ magazine
http://www.cq-amateur-radio.com/
Every ham should have a copy of Murph's HAMCALC.
Cheers, 73,
Ron McConnell
