It would be nice to see the SECC make a effort this year to get a bunch of
rovers
on the road and try to activate all the GA counties. I think I can probably
speak for John
and myself that we could disqualify ourself from winning the rover plaque to
give a
newcomer team a chance to win that category.
It is very easy to setup a mobile station. We just use my old Kenwood
TS850S and some
Hustler mobile whips. I think you can find Hamsticks (or a clone) at HRO for
maybe $30
a piece. You will be amazed at the pileups you get when changing counties.
It is like you
are a rare DX station. What a rush !!! John and I made 1800 QSO's the first
year we went
out. Just amazing using an antenna that wasn't even 10 ft tall !!! Give it
a try.
