Not much in the way of contests for this coming weekend. You will
recall that there is an operating activity called Straight Key Night
that runs 00 to 24Z on Jan 1 and is sponsored by ARRL. Infomation in
December QST. There also seems to be a Kid's Day contest in the
afternoon of New Year's day also with information in December QST.
The contest calendars have a number of short New Year's Day Contests,
but most of the websites don't appear to be up to date or don't include
rules in English. There is one RTTY contest and one CW contest, both
run during hours that the bands are pretty poor in this part of the
world and most of us are probably in bed.
1. SARTG (Scandinavian) RTTY New Year's Contest. Sat 08 to 11Z. 80
and 40 meters. RTTY. Exchange: RST + QSO # from 001 and Happy New
Year in your native language (no abbreviations permitted). Some QSOs
may be possible on 40. It probably starts too late for 80 meters into
Europe. http://www.sartg.com.
2. AGCW New Year's Contest (Germany). Sat 09 to 12Z. 3510-3560,
7010-7040, 14010-14060 CW (no keyboards or decoders). Exchange: RST
+ Serial # + AGCW Member # if applicable. http://www.agcw.de. Probably
late for 40 meters into Europe. Might get a few Europeans just before
the end on 20 M, but probably ends too soon for 20 M. Europe works
Europe, I guess.

John, K4BAI.
