So again, just because it failed in the past... doesn't mean it will fail
in the future.  I don't know W4OWM or his club, and God rest his
soul.  But maybe he wasn't the right guy for the job?  Plenty of companies
fail with great products and people because of failed leadership.  I
suspect the same thing applies to contest sponsorship.  

For this to work, all participating states would have to scrub their own
QSO Parties in favor of the joint mission.

I totally disagree.  5 State QSO parties with slightly different rules and
times will only distract each other and ensure the failure of them all.
