Windows XP or Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8?
XP allows applications to directly control the hardware mixer in the
sound card. This means that applications with "fight" over levels.
Vista/Windows 7/Windows 8 have a hardware abstraction layer (HAL)
meaning that each application controls only a "virtual" audio device.
If you're still using XP, get rid of it ... Microsoft will abandon it
completely in April and Win 7/8 are far better than XP.

This was pointed out a few years ago when multiple instances of MMTTY were
being used when a certain SoundBlaster soundcard was being used. It seems
like that that card cannot handle more than one application using it's audio
output. I would make sure you have the most current drivers for your
soundcard. You could also pick up one of the cheap under $10.00 USB
soundcards and see if that takes care of the problem..

Subject: [RTTY] 2Tone problems
Hi Guys,
I'm finally setup with 2 RTTY Windows: MMTTY & 2Tone. And I've got a
couple of problems:
1) As soon as I added the 2Tone as my 2nd window, I noticed the audio level
on the MMTTY window dropped about two-thirds and MMTTY doesn't decode very
well anymore.
2) 2Tone decodes the received signals fine but only decodes my transmit
message about one-third of the time. Any ideas how I can get it to decode
my transmit message all the time?
Rig: K3 feeding a Windows 7 computer motherboard soundcard from the fixed
audio output jack on the rear of the K3.
Thanks!
