I'm not so sure about that. 

During every contest there will be times where two or more stations are
calling me at the same time and with QRM and QRN it isn't always clear
to them who I am working. If I sent TU AC0C W6WRT CQ I think it helps
make things clear. 

It also helps someone just tuning in. If I send only TU W6WRT CQ, does
that mean I am thanking W6WRT or that I am W6WRT?
