Quite a suprising reading of QRZ...
I for one always suggested like this. If I finish a QSO and immidiately 
after Bye-Bye I start calling, CQ, it would sound just rough and unpollite. 
Just like I would say, I am done with you, now I am on to more fresh meet 
like you. From my point of view saying QRZ is like pretending that I made a 
choice to answer you, first, but now let me also answer somebody else still 
waiting for me. It is not as abusive as to say, the QSO is complete and now 
you are not that valuable for me anymore, therefore CQ!

In other words, 73 QRZ sounds more polite than 73 CQ. At least, it used to 
be like this for me. Now with the Claude's opinion I might change my mind...
