That depends on what you mean by "better". If you mean faster 
sending, you are correct. If you mean more likely to get through, not 
necessarily. In your example, if the FIGS character at the start is 
garbled, the other guy will print TOOAPTAPT. We've all seen this many 
times. By comparison, if a shift is sent in place of the dash and the 
same FIGS character is lost, the other guy will print TOO 05 05, 
assuming USOS is enabled of course.

Which one is "better"?
