Here is the current forecast discussion on space weather and geophysical activity, issued 2020 Dec 24 1230 UTC.
Solar Activity
24 hr Summary: Solar activity was very low. A few B-level enhancements were observed from Region 2795 (S18E60, Cao/beta) as it continued to exhibit slight growth during the period. Region 2794 (S17E33, Hsx/alpha) remained unremarkable. No Earth-directed CMEs were observed.
Forecast: Solar activity is expected to be very low, with a slight chance for C-class flares, on 24-26 Dec.
Energetic Particle
24 hr Summary: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux was at normal to moderate levels and the greater than 10 MeV proton flux remained at background values.
Forecast: The greater than 2 MeV electron flux is expected to reach moderate to high levels on 24-26 Dec due to CH HSS influence. The greater than 10 MeV proton flux is expected to continue at background levels.
Solar Wind
24 hr Summary: Solar wind parameters continued to reflect the influence of a positive polarity CH HSS. Solar wind speed decreased slightly from 605 km/s to average between 550-575 km/s for most of the period. Total field averaged near 5 nT, while the Bz component fluctuated between +/-4 nT. Phi angle was mostly positive (away).
Forecast: Solar wind parameters are expected to be enhanced through 25 Dec under the influence of a positive polarity CH HSS. Solar wind speeds in the 500-600 km/s range are likely. By 26 Dec, solar wind speed is expected to slowly return to nominal levels as HSS influence diminishes.
Geospace
24 hr Summary: The geomagnetic field was at quiet to unsettled levels due to CH HSS activity.
Forecast: The geomagnetic field is expected to be at unsettled to active levels on 24-25 Dec, with G1 (Minor) storm periods likely on 24 Dec due to persistent CH HSS effects. Quiet to unsettled levels are expected on 26 Dec as the CH HSS moves from its geoeffective position.
