I am unsure as to why Thomas would like to start another group, (yet
another one). Radio propagation and space weather are two topical areas
that see periods of high activity, and periods of low activity. I am not
sure why, but the intensity of such activity tends to follow cycles.

My wife recently had spinal surgery. At the same time, I developed
pneumonia, and lost my voice for three weeks. I'm just now getting back
into the swing of things. Perhaps Thomas felt that I was obligated to
respond immediately to his request of his taking back control of the
Propagation (contesting.com) reflector, because in his view it had died.
(It would be really nice if someone could take such control of the Sun, to
get it to wake back up and provide more sunspot activity.)

The role of moderator, as I see it, is to ensure the proper operation of
the list. The role of the subscriber is to ensure the health of the
activity and dialogue. The list is in great technical health. The
activity sure could use a boost; perhaps Thomas could just start utilizing
it. If others feel that his information warrants further discussion, then
the burden is theirs.

I certainly don't have the time to subscribe to every minor propagation
and space weather discussion group that exists. That's like doing the
same on the topic of Visual C# programming. I have enough doing the
technical writing I do for Microsoft, than to track the threads of
hundreds of wanna-be programmers who want to discuss how to write text to
a file using a streaming i/o class. The same goes for space weather and
radio signal propagation.

Bottom line? Let's use what we have, and conserve energy. Think green.
:)
