First, are you seeing the actual flashrom boot at all? Does it reach the
testing of the interfaces?
IF not then you have a problem with the BIOS of the motherboard seeing the
NIC boot prom. Make sure the bios is set to boot from LAN in the boot
sequence. Second, you could have a problem with the eeprom address, make
sure there is nothing else installed that may be conflicting with the boot
prom address of the NIC. If the NIC is PCI then you may try another slot to
force the BIOS to assign another IRQ and IO to the NIC.
Once last possible cause could be the IDE controller as well, the boot prom
may be loading and then referencing the flashrom IDE interface however their
may be a problem communicating on the IDE bus. Start experimenting with the
BIOS settings on the IDE bus, first try forcing the BIOS to the lowest
settings (IE UDMA mode 1) force the IDE interface to legacy UDMA33, also try
placing a type 1 hard disk drive the appropriate IDE channel settings within
the BIOS as well.
Let me know the results and I may be able to help further.

I am having trouble getting a new flashrom system running to load the
software on it. Help?
I have 2 Flashrom modules, 2 NIC's with ROM chip.
Installed each in VIA socket 7 motherboard.
Installed ISA video card
Boot units. Units test mem, report no IDE found.
Units display POST summary screen including the stats on the NIC.
Units then report DISK BOOT ERROR. INSERT DISK AND STRIKE ANY KEY.
Standard disk boot error message......
I thought that they started running from the ROM on the NIC.
All the LED's on the flashrom module are lit and stay lit.
What am I doing wrong?
I have other flashrom units working on the same hardware. But, it's
been so long since I built one, I think I may be making one of those
dumb errors....

What are your jumper configurations on the flashrom?

Wait a sec.
Am I reading this correctly?
You have 2 flashrom modules & 2 NICs with rom chips installed on the same
MB?
I have had allot of bad ROM chips on NICs in the past that would cause me
allot of grief!
