Art,

You had enough information, at the time of the QSOs, to remove the QSO that
you logged with K3EH. I see no ethical problem with turning it into an
X-QSO.

You tried to ignore the persistent caller with a 9 in the callsign, but his
QRM caused you to bust the callsign of K3ES and log it as K3EH. When K3ES
called in and you completed that QSO, it was clear that the callsign in the
previous QSO was not K3EH (no 9 in that callsign, never mind the IL!).

The impact may be minor, but you should not suffer a NIL for your effort to
complete a QSO with K3ES. I would be grateful to K3ES for sticking around
and making it into your log with the correct callsign. The "persistent
9-lander" was not persistent enough to make sure that you had their
callsign. That station is the only one who deserves a penalty, in this case
NIL.
