I find remote operating most interesting Pete.
Don't let the naysayers get you down. As long as that country's on-air
callsign matches where the station and antennas are located I say goforit !
I noticed a number of remotes in the CWT.without them, those fellas would
not have been QRV.
The more the merrier!

In fact, I have remoted my own station..barely..just a single rig, single
mode (CW), and single antenna just by using
a remote desktop software (Teamviewer_). All the control was within N1MM+
logger and whatever else I had running on the PC.(nothing special)

It (radio/computer) was at my home and not at a remote site, but for about a
year there, I could do the CWT's from my desk at work if time allowed. Work
has now somehow blocked all that, so I am dead in the water..at least from
work.

I am in awe when I read about guys with a shipping container or cottage on
the top of the hill and being able to turn off power outlets, spin antennas,
lower the tower and feed a pet goldfish and who-knows-what all, from their
home ~100 miles away (or across the country).

Very very interesting !

Yes, I am an NCJ subscriber.

>From the number of comments I've received, both on the reflector and off, it
appears that a prime subject these days is remote operation. I did a little
a few years ago using a Remoterig box to connect my K-3 to another at W4RN.
It worked, but was a little cumbersome, and in the meantime I got a tower
up and stopped doing that.

So, the question is, if you operate remotely, what hardware/software/radio
combination do you use, and how do you like it? What problems have you
encountered and what solutions have you found? If you'd rather not have
your comments sourced to you by name/callsign, please be sure to let me know
so that I can respect your wishes.
