You guys are giving me so many reasons to take my top of the honour role
certificate and burn it. It was bad enough when the ARRL allowed one to
move from one side of the country to the other and still keep the
countries/entities without starting over. Now we are going to put remote
stations in every country/entity. Traditional DXpeditioning will be just a
memory.
The challenge will be gone! It's also called 'dumbing down'. Welcome to
the new world of entitlement where everyone wins a gold medal.

All this talk of remote operating has got me all fired up. I have remote
capability from my house to the shack with a fast connection. I'm going to
try it in a cw contest with my K3 and amp. I'll remote my skimmer too so I
can see what's going on. Extending my shack to anywhere I want, setting up
and using complimentary technology, coping with latency (not too much I
guess?), all done with feet up in my cosy warm house. It's Just another
category. What's not to like?

Remote contesting. The 500 m diameter rule.... I don't see the correlation.
What do the op has to do with the antennas being hooked up to the
transmitter(s) and located within an imaginary 500 m diameter circle?
The op can be touching the radio, a few feet away on the couch or taking a
bio break with wireless keyboard and headset or even thousand miles away. It
doesn't make a difference, as long as he/she reports he was operating a
station somewhere else.
What IS indeed wrong, is when someone is claiming to be operating from a
given location but actually he/she has remote RX or remote TRX to take un
unfair advantage over the others. But that, is a completely different
story.
Just my opinion.
