“run all day key down maximum smoke on FM and RTTY (people really do that?)”

Maybe not all day, but in a serious RTTY SO2R contest effort dual CQ mode will
keep my amp(s) transmitting nearly 100% of the time for many hours. I switch
the amp(s) between the radios real time, and the rule is “you are only loud
when you are transmitting”. So one radio is nearly always transmitting.

I run a pair of KPA500s combined and they will run 100% full power for as long
as I need. And yes, into reasonably big antennas.

All day, key down, maximum smoke? I doubt it.

That seems to be the new standard around here. Any amplifier topology
that can't meet that ridiculous standard isn't worthy. Oh, don't forget
the 20:1 matching range auto-tuner so you can run all day key down
maximum smoke on FM and RTTY (people really do that?) using crap
antenna's, and it better not cost more than the shelled out SB-220 I
bought 40 years ago.
