Carl,
Having read all of the other comments hear on this list I have already =
bought the mod from Harbach. I did not want to get into that project =
until the main problem was solved. From all of the comments I am =
receiving it seems that the relay circuit in the amp is the place to =
start looking.
Thanks,
Barry KW8W

You also need to be aware of the high keying voltage from the sb200, =
It's about -120 volts dc. Can your exciter handle that?? if not, you'll =
need a "soft key" ckt. like the one from harbach electronics. I have no =
connection with them except that's where I buy some parts!!!!! that =
unit is about $ 18-20 and allows your exciter to see only about 1 volt =
or so at very low current and is completely safe for any modern =
exciter!!
carl / kz5cap.s. if pin 2 on your exciter is supposed to be ground =
it must be defective, since you can key with one wire on the shell of =
your connector!!!!

Hi Barry,=20
Try connecting a shorting plug to the relay control input on the =
SB-200. If the amp
is working properly, you should hear the T/R relay close, and see an =
indication
of idling current on the plate current meter when you connect the =
shorting plug. If=20
nothing happens when you do this, then there is a problem in the =
amp. If the=20
T/R relay closes, and you see idling current, then you can apply =
drive from the=20
exciter to see if the amp works (make sure you remove the RF drive =
from the=20
exciter before you unkey the amp).=20

Subject: [AMPS] TS-940 and SB-200
Having read everything I can find here and elsewhere about hooking =
up a TS-940 to a SB-200 I have decided to ask fo help. The remote =
output of the 940 uses pin 6 for ALC, pin 4 for the amp relay, and pin 2 =
as the ground. With this hookup I get no closure or voltage between =
pins 2 and 4. I do get closure between 4 and the outside of the din =
connector. When hooked up to the SB-200 there does not seem to be any =
keying (ie. no plate current). There is HV on the amp and everything =
else works on the 940. The amp was supposedly in working order when =
taken off-line years ago. Any suggestions as to where to start looking?
Thanks,
Barry KW8W
