Comments:
Spent the first ten percent (6 minutes) of the
session on 7 MHz with Gert PA3AAV as the single
station. Then found Rich NN3W on 14 MHz stronger
than most Europeans. There was serious blanking
of most of Europe by the Es-layer, but its MUF
was not very high up. Nil on 21 MHz. Solar X-rays
were at B1.5 throughout the session and there was
slight Aurora. Went back to 7 MHz for the braking.
Did walk around with the new IC-705 as spectrum
monitor for EMI, and found a hidden door between
two apartments, where excessive nois was coming
from. It probably deals with the electricity of
the block, as there seemed to be a GSM-antenna
to pass the data to the el-grid power-company.
Have to find out and maybe donate some ferrite.
Also tested a FTDX10, but there seems to be a
parasitic oscillation in the final above 1.5 : 1
SWR (the final transistor is UHF-type RD70HUP2,
strangely a 70 watts type (with good reserve
for extra power on HF, but maybe not for IMD?).
Parasites/spurious is a different matter still.
Cheers/73, Zaba OH1ZAA #1856 CWops
