ADDRESS-CITY: Minden
ADDRESS-STATE-PROVINCE: NV
ADDRESS-POSTALCODE: 89423

OPERATORS: K7VC
SOAPBOX:
SOAPBOX: 24 QSOs, 22 unique grid squares, unknown number of distance mults.
SOAPBOX: RTTY75 only. All state-side except one Canadian and one German.
SOAPBOX:
SOAPBOX: Single-digit rates. I felt like I was the only one in the contest.
SOAPBOX: I qualified for four categories, but I didn't know which one to
SOAPBOX: enter. Decisions, decisions... :)
SOAPBOX:
SOAPBOX: I was called by many 45 baud stations that in the spirit of the
SOAPBOX: contest I could only respond to in 75 baud. I finally had to make
SOAPBOX: a special macro that would explain at 45 baud why I was operating
SOAPBOX: at 75 baud and then go back to 75 baud and hope they could figure
SOAPBOX: out how to respond to me. Some did, most didn't.
SOAPBOX:
SOAPBOX: My original log didn't have RSTs listed as was illustrated by the
SOAPBOX: DigiFest web site examples. Unfortunately, their log robot
SOAPBOX: requires RST values, so after I manually added them to the log,
SOAPBOX: the robot accepted them.
SOAPBOX:
SOAPBOX: Lack of promotion, lack of contest scoring modules and minimal
SOAPBOX: interest by the RTTY-only community. However, lack of RTTY
SOAPBOX: interest is not the fault of the contest organizers as this is a
SOAPBOX: multi-mode contest so those of us operating only one mode have no
SOAPBOX: one to blame but themselves.
SOAPBOX:
SOAPBOX: I probably won't operate this contest again unless I can bring
SOAPBOX: more modes to the party or unless the organizers can rally more
SOAPBOX: stations to the event. I only operated four hours because the
SOAPBOX: single-digit rates were just too slow to maintain my interest.
SOAPBOX:
SOAPBOX: My thanks to all those who put up with my 75 baud CQs, even if
SOAPBOX: they hadn't a clue why I couldn't understand their responses. :)
SOAPBOX:
SOAPBOX: My special thanks to the organizers; any contest that gets me
SOAPBOX: on the air is a good contest.

END-OF-LOG:
I hope my mono-spaced entries came through (I hate HTML!) Also, 3820
doesn't
have a template for this contest.
