Well, one reason to continue to use LSB on 40 is that there are still a
significant number of mostly older rigs in use that do not have
selectable sidebands. The only SSB available on a given band is the one
usually used. Most of us want to work everyone we can. The addition of
less than 3 kHz of usable frequencies on a band is probably not a good
enough reason to change the side used on that band and risk losing QSOs
with hams still using those rigs. 73, John, K4BAI.
