W4TV:
 >Even though the entire history of amateur radio and contesting
has been to replace one operator skill after another with some
form of technology, it is only when technology shows the
prospect of helping operators with modest SO2R skills to become
more efficient and potentially challenge some of the elite
that technology is shunned.

Please define elite. Do you mean the elite 57%
who prefer that Skimmer not be allowed in unassisted?

...or the elite 69% who prefer that SOA and SOU
not be combined in CQ WW contests? (IMHO this
is the net effect of allowing Skimmer in SOU).

...or the elite 69% who choose to enter CQ WW and
SS in unassisted categories? (I define this as
voting with your feet).

Or could "elite" actually mean a few
outspoken folks attempting to force their will
on the majority?

P.S. One interesting aside recently learned
while reading a daily devotion. Etymology of
amateur - "French, from Latin amator lover, from amare to love"
When we cease loving what we are doing, we
will probably stop will stop doing it.
