Lee, that is something - I can't believe what an energy hog it is. I would
have guessed that the ARGO II would have used much more, but the processors
must be humming away in the ARGO V.
Many thanks,

Kris,
The Argonaut V under the same conditions was somewhat higher.
Argonaut V 5.6A 5.1 hrs.
I did the following radios:
OHR 100A
Century 22
Argonaut 515, pilot lamps on and off
Argonaut V
Argosy
Argosy II, display on and off
Triton IV (this is a sleeper :-)
Corsair II
Omni D "C Series"
Jupiter
Paragon
Omni VI
I tested at 2, 5, 20 50 and 100 watts as available. Knowing the
performance parameters, I
calculate CW and SSB average current, CW and SSB amps per watt, and CW and
SSB run
time. One can vary the transmit duty cycle and battery amp hours
capacity. You can change
the depth of discharge simply by reducing the battery A/H input as
desired. For example, to
figure 50% discharge run time, enter the battery capacity divided by 2.
I have the results in
spread sheet form and can e-mail if anyone wants. Let me know. It's
interesting to play
around and see what run time you can get on battery power in a pinch.

Lee, that is very useful and interesting data. How about the ARGO V?
I was disappointed to see that it requires such a large power supply
- I assume for the 20 Watt output, but it seems to want "juice."
