No, you didn't miss a thing. My original point was that:

1) My Omni VI+'s have a 1/8" jack on the rear panel that supports the internal
keyer with the paddle of your choice

2) The Eagle has a 1/8" jack on the rear panel that supports the internal keyer
with the paddle of your choice

3) The Orion II appears to have 1/8" jack on the rear panel that supports the
internal keyer with the paddle of your choice

4) The Omni VII (my choice for other reasons) only has a 1/4" jack and it's on
the front panel to support the internal keyer. All connections at the rear
support only a straight key or an external keyer.

Because of the way that I like to run the cables at my operating position, if I
had a wish for the Omni VII that is different than built, it would be for a
1/8" jack on the rear panel that supports the internal keyer. Of course, I'll
run the cable under the rig and plug it into the front. That's a small price to
pay to have the 302 tuner/keypad and a few other features I'm looking forward
to.

Yes, I know that I could do some modification. Rewiring would be a snap. I just
don't care to drill the rear panel. That makes it a user-modified rig. My
choice.

I guess I wasn't clear on my first e-mail. I hope this helps everyone to
understand where this part of the thread started. I really do appreciate all
the guys attempts to help, but pointing out a connection for an external keyer
did not address the original premise.

If I like the Omni VII as much as I think I will, then my second Omni VI+ will
go and my backup rig will be an Eagle. It's a fantastic deal. Just not to my
quirky liking for the primary rig.

Hi Gang:

In looking at the photos of the Eagle on Ten-Tec's site... I -only-
saw a key jack on the rear of the radio... nothing on the front.  Did
I miss the point?  The only jacks I see on the front are the 8-pin
mic jack, and the 1/4" headphone jack.

I don't have a photo of the Omni to compare.

The photos of the Eagle are really nice.  I bet they are life size
renderings.
