The only reason I don't trade my Omni VII is because of its ability to run
renote base . Any radio can be made to run remote base but it is a lot more
trouble to set up . And the O7 has 3 emty slots for fermware upgrades. A CW
decoder or on screen PSK decoder could be just a fermware update away. I think
I will keep my Omni VII and Orion II . I would still like to have a Eagle too .
It sure looks like a great little radio .
Merry Christmas to all my Ten Tec friends

Subject: Re: [TenTec] New Eagle vs. Used Omni VII
Hello Frank,
I bought an Omni VII when they were first offered, and have actually
contemplated selling it to try out an Eagle. Doesn't appear that the Omni
VII has any features for a casual operator that the Eagle lacks, and
evidently the Eagle receiver performance is better. So, a new rig ( with a
one-year warranty ), for probably less money than a used Omni VII, in your
position wouldn't think twice about buying the Eagle.
