In fact my N4PY Paragon chip makes a Paragon II out of a Paragon. I did the
firmware for the Paragon II for Tentec my N4PY Paragon chip is very similar
to the Paragon II firmware. The biggest problem is finding a serial board
for the Paragon if you want to utilize computer control.

I would add that you shouldn't completely discount the original Paragon.
With some careful shopping you can duplicate the Paragon II with the only
exception being AM transmit, and it will cost quite a bit less. You can
even
use the same remote control software if you install an inexpensive N4PY
chip. I have the 585 Paragon with a Giehl chip, voice board, and RS-232
board plus a full complement of filters and I just love the radio!

Hi Dave, As an owner of a Paragon 2 I wanted to say that you will enjoy it
when
you get one. I have one here that I purchased from TenTec used. You may
want
to
call Stan and mention that you are looking for one and he will let you
know
if
they get one in trade. You don't see many come up for sale but they sure
are
a
fine radio. Good luck
