Just tested with a signal generator on 40 meters and could not recreate the problem with signals up to 0 dBm. Must be caused by something else.

Maybe if I get time in the next couple of days, I'll hook up my signal
generator and see if a certain level triggers the phenomenon.

Hi Ron and Others

I don't own Orion, but the "red screen" reminds me of the early soundcard
software
which would show red on the display if the level was too high. Ron, maybe
you
could replicate the problem with a noise generator. The results might be
interesting.

It's not all that 'dreaded' of a problem, and it can be corrected by just
turning the sweep off and on from the front panel. It's probably just
some
sort of register overflow in the firmware that will require minor tweak to fix. I seem to see it only in relation to very strong signals (in and out
of band) including those caused by lighting strikes. I mention that
because
we almost never see lightning here on the northern California coast, but
yesterday we did, and I saw some red screens on my OII!

I have had my O2 on pretty much 24/7 since the firmware update came out
(installed it the first day with zero problems. I haven't checked out
all
the reported "glitches", but I will say that I have not tried or used the
AF
sweep.

In any case, I have not experienced the "red screen" problem that I have
seen reported, nor have I experienced any audio crashes (or any crashes
for
that matter).

Am I the only one who has not experienced the dreaded "red screen" in
either
the waterfall or sprectrum?

Iam amazed with all these bugs ie Red Screen etc. Didn't TT see these
problems during their months of testing? Their loyal customers spotted
these problems within 48hrs. Lets hope it's not another 1 1/2 years for
a
correction. I have not downloaded this firmware as of yet. This reminds
me of how the car companys let the buying public be the guinea pig.
