Jerry.

Thanks for the tips. I have a trip to the hardware store in my future. My GDO lives again. I also feel better about my knight-kit tube tester that has a place of honor on the shelf in my shop. It called the tube as shorted and way low on emission when I tested the 6af4a (made by RCA for Eico....those were the days HI.)

The world is starting to look a lot better. I bought a tube from http://www.vacuumtubes.net and I received the tube 2 days later. Installed the tube and got a meter reading. phew!

I now have new issue and am hoping someone has an idea or two. There is a plastic window over the frequency drum. Given that there is some brownish stuff on the inside of the cover, I can only assume is was somehow glued to the aluminum cover. Can I use a tape to hold the window in place or is there some other option.

Thanks for the suggestions and support.

That brown stuff is probably Pliobond. A rubbery contact adhesive. It
holds better than tape. It may still be available, if not go to a car
parts store and get a tube of 3M trim adhesive.
