The mic preamp, which contains an audio AGC is bypassed. The AGC actually
works pretty good and uses the same chip as the W2IHY EQplus. If you have
an external processor with high level output, feeding into the back is a
good idea, but not a whole lot is gained or lost going through the mic
connector on the front. Both have good frequency response and low noise.
The advantage of using the internal preamp and AGC is that the level going
into the analog to digital converter is kept from driving it to distortion.
