Thanks to all who responded with suggestions on what to look for.
I have checked the Power Distribution Board, and found that the +5V on JP2 is cycling off & on at the same rate as the xcvr cycling off & on. Have emailed Ten-Tec Service, and waiting for a reply, probably sometime after the weekend. I'm hoping they will send a new Power Distribution Board to replace this one, but they may still want the xcvr back to look at under warranty. Will see when I hear back from them.

Tnx & 73,

Subject: [TenTec] Orion II - Power up problem

I'm having the following problem when I try to power on my Orion II:
After turning on the power switch, the xcvr cycles at about once per second, continuously from power on to power off for as long as I leave the power switch turned on. For a fraction of a second, the alc light and meter light come on then go back off in sequence with the power cycling. Also, as the lights go on & off, I can hear the relay operating in my amplifier. With all cables disconnected from the xcvr except the power cable, the on/off cycling still happens. I have measured the pwr supply voltage at 13.9V, and also tried another power supply known to be good.

I have had the xcvr for less than 1 year, so it's still under warranty, but trying to avoid sending it back to the factory. Has anyone on the list had the same problem? Or have an idea what might be the cause?

Tnx & 73,
Tim - N3XX
