It is worth mentioning that the Paragon II when transmitting in "AM" actually transmits SSB with reinserted carrier. You can select which sideband you want to transmit on. You cannot transmit on both sidebands. An AM detector can demodulate it, however it is not the same thing as DSB AM. The sidebands pass through the same filter as is used for SSB transmit, and you can expect the same audio bandwidth as with SSB. The carrier is reinserted after the filter. You can listen to received AM signals using the 6 kHz filter. DE N6KB Finally, the Paragon II allowed AM transmit while the original could only receive AM. > |
