I have not loaded the latest firmware but am at the previous release on an
Orion I. I on occasion heard a ripping sound like splatter in the monitor
feed when I had the compression on, even at a very low level. Did/do you
hear that effect? Never heard it in V1, but those releases had their own
problems.

Did some initial ssb testing and recordings with 2.059 using a Heil
Proset feeding mic jack and an external audio rack/condensor mic
feeding aux input. With speech processor off, the audio quality seems
uniformly excellent. However the speech processor is VERY aggressive
and its effects quite audible. With v1 firmware, I often ran SP at 5
to 8. With 2.059, I'm not sure if I'll be using it at all. Curious
what others find.
The new variable mic preamp stage is very welcome, as are the AGC changes.
