I think I already answered this in a private email, but you should just be
able to slip the red/orange dial pointer off the cable, and reinstall it on
the right place.
That's assuming the PTO was not "tweaked" to move the actual tune frequency
for the previous owner's MARS nets. The whole thing sounds fishy as I
always thought that rig could reach the MARS freqs without any adjustments.
Why the guy moved the pointer is a mystery. The pointer is just to
"ballpark" the real tuning dial which is that silver ring behind the main
knob!

Subject: [TenTec] Triton dial string
My "new" Triton arrived week before last.
Looks great, but I quickly found that the dial is way off. It will not go
the last inch to the left, and goes correspondingly too far to the right
over the meter. Way too far for the adjustment wheel underneath to correct
for.
I am in receipt of a dial string "kit" from Ten Tec. I was hoping it would
come with instructions, but it did not.
Does anyone who's done this have any last words of wisdom before I dig in?
I can't wait to get it on the air and make my first CW contact ever - I've
been causing accidents all over town watching my MFJ morse code tutor in the
car.
Thanks,
Kirk
