Hooray! My "new" Pegasus arrived today and I'm very pleased. This
thing's as much fun as my very first rig almost 40 years ago (and works
a helluva lot better).
After setting the rig up (ten minutes, tops) my first QSO was a 20 meter
SSB three-way with a K5 and a G3. Both gave me S9 reports. It could
have been better had I realized at the time that I had the TX output set
at only 10 watts! Maybe I should at least glance at the manual now.
I'm using N4PY's software -- and tried the native Ten Tec program, too.
The N4PY version is certainly much more fun and looks sexier.
At this point I have taken absolutely no anti-RF precautions -- other
than having installed "RF isolators" on my feedlines at the rig end. So
far, no problems to report -- at least on 20 meters.
I'm running the Pegasus line output through my broadcast audio board,
program amp and monitor speakers and it sounds terrific. My XYL even
commented "that's the best sounding radio you've ever had." When a toy
gets wifely approval, it's gotta be good!
Anyway, my initial impressions are very positive. I'm sure I'll be back
with questions and more comments as my new adventure continues. I
certainly appreciate all the advice I've gotten so far. Many thanks!
I'll check into one of the nets this weekend, f'sure.
