Depends on the ham shack...
Shrieking children, the neighbors motorcycle, slamming doors, the
dishwasher, the tv set, I could go on and on...
I've tried several noise-cancelling phones but as already pointed out they
aren't helpful past 1500 Hz so many problem noises aren't even touched by
them.
Also some don't like being immersed in an RF field and make terrible noises
of their own on key down!

reiterate just why noise canceling earphones are required in a ham shack? An
aircraft cockpit, yes, but a ham shack???
