Some have been kicking about the Orion II's S-meter reading this morning. To
satisfy my own curiosity, I hauled out a Boonton signal generator and made
some measurements at 14.200 of signal level vs S-Meter. S-9 was found to be
50uV and then 10dB steps above and below 50uV were taken to generate the
following table. The preamp was off.
uV S-Meter 5 3 15 6 50 9 150 9+20dB 500 9+35dB 1500 9+45dB 5000 9+55dBThe S9 50uV meter reading seems to hold from band to band very well. The strongest signals I receive are approx S9+50dB. W9XX |
