[TenTec] Alternative stringing of Argo 509 dial cord?

Hi,

My Argonaut 509 dial cord needs to be replaced. I know that I could order
one from Ten-Tec, but at this time it is impossible for me to do so.

Has anyone replaced the dial cord on a 509 without using the official
replacement?

Any hints, pointers, etc would be appreciated.
