My Argo V, also v1.08, must have a little more audio gain than yours, or else 
I just talk louder, so the numbers are a little different, but I also notice 
that the 706 desk mike has lower output than the hand mike.  With the hand 
mike, my audio gain is normally set around 10 o'clock, and with the desk mike 
it's around 2 o'clock.  I haven't tried taking the foam off.

Another problem I noticed is that the desk mike is more susceptible to 
picking up RF in the shack than the hand mike.  Anyone else notice that?
