Keep in mind that the primary business of Tentec is injection molding.........not ham radio. So they make a few 100000 knobs or so. Also, they have a good tool and die shop too. These 2 parts of the business pays for the ham radio hobby end of the business.

Yes, Dave you could buy another knob from Ten Tec but it would break the
same way the old one did.
Some people don't even know it is split until they go to turn the bandswitch
and the knob just spins.
So, if a better way is found to make a product better why no use it?
Those non insert knobs have been a problem for Ten Tec too.
It was just a poor design.
Even Ten Tec would go with that feeling.
