Wiggle the filters to see if the reception comes and goes.......
I've seen and repaired a few of the Corsair/Paragon/Omni V/VI radios that
had a similar symptom.
In these cases, it was because the filter legs did not fit tightly enough in
the pin receptacles.
The cure is to squeeze the filter pins to widen them slightly so they fit
tighter in the pin jacks.

Subject: Re: [TenTec] Omni 6 (Option 1) Intermittent Audio
I am experiencing the same audio symptoms that Chuck, AF4PP, describes. My
radio
is a Tentec Omni VI/Opt 3. The problem started a couple of months ago, very
intermittently, but it's gradually gotten worse. I originally thought it
was a
component or wire seating problem (and it may still turn out to be such a
problem), but jiggling was no help. Rather, it acts like some component has
gone
bad because it's having these problems just about all the time now.
Sometimes I
can run the AF gain up and still get almost no audio, and what I do get is
muffled and distorted.
So, if anyone knows what Chuck's problem is, it'll be a big help to me, too.
