My assumption being that a significant part of the DSP's
horsepower is being used to create the sweep display. If that
is indeed true then there would be more cycles leftover that
could then be used for sharper filters instead. The way it is
now there had to be a design trade off between tightness of
the filter passband shapes while preserving real-time
performance RX performance while also providing the scope. If
by chnace the DSP is only minimally involved with the scope
function then the improvements would be even more confined to
just the control aspects.
