One thing that I might suggest is to perform the following:
1. Turn the Orion "Off"
2. Push the VFO "B" "LCK" in while powering the Orion back on. keep the but
LCK button held in. This will clear the "Ram".
3. Then do a Master Reset.
4. Reload Ver. 1.372
5. Do another Master Reset.
Check the operation of the Orion.
John posted this over nine months ago, the Reflector Police ran with it and
told every one the Master Rest is not needed and don't do the Ram Clear, not
needed. Well John you just told the truth about the Orion. I do just what you
posted every time I update my Orion. It works and even today when I tell
friends this is what I do they, no I don't want to do that, I will call Ten-Tec
and see what they say.
Now I do not have problems with my Orion (Sept 2003 model). The little problem
with the BW control is not something that would stop me buying my second Orion.
To everyone out there, V 1.372 is very good and the receiver can be used on
very weak CW signals now with out the trouble of setting up everything for weak
signals. Just turn the RF Gain down to the 50 to 60% range and set the DSP
filter you want. I do have AGC set up and saved for all four AGC programs,
they work well if you have not played with the AGC on the Orion then you are
missing out. Speaking of the crystal filters, I have all three extra filters
in my Orion and with V 1.372 they work like I always thought they should, If I
have qrm with these three filters installed and working with V 1.372, it is
not QRM, that station is on MY FREQUENCY.
The folks on this reflector remind me of the Airmen that worked for me in the
21 years of my Air Force life, if they do not have something to complain about,
well they were not happy. I think that is what we are seeing here.
Any way John Thanks for your post, it will do good.
